So there has been much controversy about the Occupy Wall Street event. For one there are so many messages being thrown around that no one is taking it seriously. Another issue is that lack of publicity. Well over the last few weeks there has been talk about putting money into a PR firm to help this movement. This in return caused much controversy. How can you hire a big fancy PR firm to help when the main goal is to stop shoving huge amounts of money into these corporate giants?
Well I just read that the PR firm Workhouse has agreed to do the publicity for this movement pro bono. For one I think this is a very smart idea. How can anyone take the Occupy Wall Street serious if the protestors themselves are using a corporate giant to shape the message? I'm pretty sure we can all agree that this movement needs PR. For one to shape a message and stick with it. Those other protesters trying to push the environment and other issues into this protest need to take a backseat to the original goals. Also I am pretty sure that Workhouse will get a good bit of publicity about their efforts. In return win win situation.
Another incident that could be harmful to the Occupy Wall Street is Kanye West showing up to event in an outfit probably worth over a gee and then photographed shopping in Givenchy shortly after. Hello, Kanye West is not a part of the 99% of Americans that isn't getting paid. PR probably should have stepped in an had a spokesperson with the cause close to them.
