How Old is Society and Media

Today in class a question was posed. The question was how old is the world today? The majority of the responses, of course, were that we were tweens for the most obvious reasons. On the other hand it got me thinking can we really label society in one age group? I completely disagree. In fact I think different aspects of society are different ages.

First off I definitely agree with the tweens idea as far as technology goes. When it comes to technology we want instant gratification. We want information and we want it now. God forbid it takes more than five seconds for the computer to turn on. Another idea is the content in the media. What exactly are the popular information. Here's an idea, Beyonce's pregnancy was the most tweeted thing in tweet history. Yay Beyonce on your pregnancy but really? Out of all the information in the world and events that has occurred over time, this is what was most talked about. This then brings up the idea that maybe Beyonce is just what every nation has in common. I then dismiss this thought and remember that we had a global crisis just a few years ago.

Next we are definitely children when it comes to worldly communication and working together. We cannot even have peace in the world. The easiest thing to do, in my opinion, is creating my own values and following it. The world can't come to an agreement not to litter, or waste water, or even major companies going green. Seriously?

Lastly the government is definitely a senior citizen. Fist of everything in government moves extremely slowwww. Also government can't seem to connect to younger generations. Why are all the elderly getting their requests? Maybe because granny votes in every type of election from community all the way to presidential elections.

Food For Thought.......
